2009 Wilderness In-Service:
Anderson County EMS held their bi-annual wilderness in-service training during the month of May. The classes were divided into two Saturday sessions on May 16th and the 23rd. Once again we were fortunate to gain access to and conduct both sessions at Anderson County Park. This year the event was split into three exercises which included: a scenario that involved rappellling down to a victim, a scenario that involved extricating a patient from the wilderness via an ATV, and a scenario that involved utilizing divers to rescue a patient in the water.
We had a great turn out this year from employees along with members from other first responder agencies within our County. We would like to thank everyone who participated as working with other agencies is truly invaluable training. Special thanks goes to the staff of Anderson County Park and the members of Anderson County Rescue Squad. For information regarding our wilderness training please contact Assistant Chief Muse.
With the Summer months quickly approaching, please remember to be safe!
