There are many instances where an ambulance may be required to provide convalescent transport to such events as: doctors appointments, dialysis treatments, cancer treatments, and hospital admissions or discharges. Anderson County Emergency Medical Services is gladly able to provide such services, but in most instances you will need to schedule an ambulance in advance for such transports. Listed below are commonly asked questions and answers. You will also find a link to download a medical necessity form which is required and must be signed completely. - Who do I contact to schedule a convalescent transport?
Please contact our Transportation Coordinator, Belinda Colborn, at (865) 457-5571 or you may fax to (865) 457-9701.
- How far in advance should I schedule a transport?
All efforts should be made to schedule convalescent transports at least 24 hours in advance. Though we understand this is not always possible, early notification will allow us to meet your needs in a more timely and efficient manner.
- Is there a fee to schedule transports in advance?
No, there is no fee to schedule a transprt in advance. However, you will receive a bill for ambulance transport.
- Can anyone schedule a convalescent transport?
Yes, anyone may schedule a convalescent transport. When calling to schedule the transport please have all necessary information available to provide to our transportation coordinator.
- Where can I obtain a medical nescessity form?
