First Responder Program:
In an effort to further improve the quality of care within our county, Anderson County Emergency Medical Services maintains an active first responder program with our local fire departments and rescue squad. When certain medical emergencies are reported, first responders are dispatched simultaneously with an EMS unit. Since most first responders are volunteers within your own community, these individuals typically arrive on scene prior to the ambulance allowing for quicker delivery of patient care. These departments operate under our Clinical Operating Guidelines and are provided all necessary equipment, including an AED, by Anderson County EMS. We typically organize and teach two first responder classes annually allowing members from these departments to attend. When space permits, the class may be opened to the public. EMR Officer meetings take place on the third Monday of every month at Anderson County Rescue Squad and start promptly at 18:30. For more information please contact Assistant Chief Darrell Muse.
EMR Class 2010
Time to get started on this fall's class! The class will start August 24th at 18:00 at the Junior Achievement building. This year ACEMS is opening up our EMR class to non-fire department personnel. If you know of any one that would like to take the class the cost will be $350.00; this includes the book. We need your training request in by the 10th of August. Each department will have four seats available to them. After the 10th of August the empty seats will be divided equally between the departments. Any unfilled seats will be filled with non-fire department personnel.
