First Responder Program:
In an effort to further improve the quality of care within our county, Anderson County Emergency Medical Services maintains an active first responder program with our local fire departments and rescue squad. When certain medical emergencies are reported, first responders are dispatched simultaneously with an EMS unit. Since most first responders are volunteers within your own community, these individuals typically arrive on scene prior to the ambulance allowing for quicker delivery of patient care. These departments operate under our Clinical Operating Guidelines and are provided all necessary equipment, including an AED, by Anderson County EMS. We typically organize and teach two first responder classes annually allowing members from these departments to attend. The class is provided free of charge and is occasionally open to the public when space permits. EMR Officer meetings take place on the third Monday of every month at Anderson County Rescue Squad and start promptly at 18:30. For more information please contact Assistant Chief Darrell Muse. Information regarding CPR Classes and Refresher Courses may also be obtained from Assistant Chief Muse. The EMR Training Request Form may be downloaded below in .doc format.
