Anderson County Emergency Medical Services proudly operates under the medical direction of Dr. Erik Petersen. Dr. Petersen currently serves as the Medical Director at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center emergency department in Knoxville, TN. We consider ourselves extremely privileged to have a Medical Director who is active and involved with our day to day operations and patient care. Dr. Petersen has been involved with Anderson County Emergency Medical Services since 2006. Upon being appointed as medical director, he undertook the task of completely revamping our protocols. The finished product became known as our Clinical Operating Guidelines and is truely an effective, efficient, and progressive approach to prehospital care. Our Clinical Operating Guidelines are layered by three major credentialing levels, beginning at the First Responder level and buidling to the Paramedic level. To further improve the quality of our system, our Clinical Operating Guidelines are reviewed and revised on an annual basis. We are currently operating under the 2007 edition with a 2008 update expected very soon. All providers at Anderson County Emergency Medical Services, whether basic or advanced, are expected to be familiar with all aspects of our Clinical Operating Guidelines.
